ciCLEvia East was the fourth and final event of the Summer 2017 Open Street Series! This event brought ciCLEvia to yet another new location, connecting two east side neighborhoods. The route spanned a mile and a half of East Boulevard and connected the Glenville and University Circle neighborhoods. The route had endpoints at Superior Avenue and the Ford/Bellflower intersection.
ciCLEvia East was possible with the help of our partners and sponsors: The YMCA, Bike Cleveland, Councilman Kevin Conwell of Ward 9, University Hospitals, Case Western Reserve University, University Circle Inc., Famicos Foundation, Cleveland Museum of Natural History, Cleveland Museum of Art, Hip Cuyahoga, The Medical Center Company, and Cleveland Public Library.
ciCLEvia East had four main hubs along the street, with activities and music along the entire route. Attendees could bike, walk, jog, and play from the Discover Hub to the Play Hub, then cross East 105th Street to the Explore Hub and Create Hub!
The vibrant event and sunny day brought in crowds of around 1,500 people over the course of the day. Participants had the opportunity to eat, play, walk, and roll with bands and DJ’s along the route. They could roller blade with Rollin’ Buckeyez, try the Midway, stop in at farmer’s market stands, and listen to over 6 DJ’s and bands! There were over 20 activity programmers, multiple food and drink vendors, and around 25 tablers along the route, with tons of open space to ride, walk, and play in between!
